Abstract

The spatial location of the specific density of birds and mammals in the 3-km zone of the possible influence of a gas main was studied. Positive anomalies feature an excess of the specific diversity over its background regional level. They are associated with the gully and upland forests of the Medveditsa, Karamysh, Malyi and Bolshoy Kolyshley river valleys and with the flood-land forests of the Karamysh river. Local peaks of the specific density are conjugated with the riverside-aquatic ecosystems of the Malaya Idolga and Idolga rivers. Negative anomalies of the specific density are related to agrocenoses which occupy ca. 50% of the area of the possible influence zone of the gas main. A decrease in the diversity of the bird and mammal communities is forecasted at the building of this gas main near it due to the future irreversible destruction of animal habitats. The area of these territories wont exceed few fractions of a per cent of the area of the possible influence zone. The alpha and beta diversity of birds and mammals will be disturbed insignificantly and will be fully restored in 4-5 years after the completion of the gas main building.
