Abstract

We consider the biodiversity of different plant communities in the upper reaches of the river Voronezh, where stands of different formations, flood plain oak forests, sudubrava, subors and pine forests are concentrated. Currently, in oak forests the first layer is formed by English oak, Scots pine, silver birch, and aspen. In the second one there is pine, oak, linden. In the undergrowth rowan, hazel, bird cherry, buckthorn, spindle tree. Ground cover contains nettles, sedges, avens, goutweed, Solomon's seal, lily of the valley. Sudubrava has complex structure: in the first layer there is English oak with a mixture of Scots pine. These are mixed in small quantities silver birch, sometimes small-leaved lime. The second layer small-leaved lime, English oak. In the undergrowth mountain ash, buckthorn, Norway and Tatar maple, spindle tree, bird cherry. Herbal layer goutweed, Solomon's seal, lily of the valley, beadruby, sedge, blueberries, stone bramble, spleenwort, vetch, wild strawberries, celan-dine, St. John's wort, peppermint. Subor formation is the richest in structure. The first layer pine, English oak with a mixture of birch and aspen. The second layer oak, linden, pine. In the undergrowth mountain ash, buckthorn, cherry bush, broom, spindle tree, red elderberry. Ground cover sedge, blueberries, stone bramble, beadruby, chickweed, spleenwort, bracken. The poorest in its structure is upland formation. The first layer is pine, the second English oak. In the undergrowth is mountain ash, Norway maple, broom, buckthorn, spindle tree, bird cherry. Herbs sedge, lily of the valley, Solomon's seal, fescue, cat's paw. Analysis of biological diversity based on Simpson's index showed that the highest rate is in sudubrava, followed by oak, subors, the lowest Simpson's index is fixed in pine forests
