Abstract

The urgency of the research is caused by the growth of number of young people recruited by the ISIS both in Russia and worldwide. In this regard, the article aims to identify reasons why the second-year student of Moscow State University Varvara Karaulova did the trial to escape to Syria, the territory controlled by ISIS. The article presents the mechanisms of being involved into extremist and terrorist activities within the intentional formation of behavioral addiction of recruitment victims. The study materials are of practical value for government and educational institutions, parents wanting to prevent the possible risks of recruitment and the young people themselves who need objective information on this topic.
