Abstract

The information selected from pedagogical periodicals of the period at the turn of XIX–XX centuries remains important at present. Pedagogical press gradually transformed into arena for discussion of the crucial issues of education which remain topical up to the present day. Prerevolutionary pedagogical journals operated mainly not as the holders of information on new methods of teaching and upbringing or teachers advanced training but as its promoters on the territory of huge Russian Empire. Pedagogical press helped to form quick response into the processes happening in school life and their reflection through the subjective perception of specialists in education. At all times teachers raising and discussing topical issues of pedagogical activities formed the circle of thinkers realizing the importance of their profession as of socio-forming one.
