Abstract

The problems of post-fire dynamics of pine forests of the Verkhne-Obsk pine wood stand in Altai region are considered in the article. Two predominant forest types – the pine forest composed of different fodder grasses and moss-berry pine forest have been studied in details. It is found that the annual weed plants, perennial pasture grasses and weed-pasture grasses are not typical for the prior-to-fire forests of this type, that maintain positional stability in the floristic composition of fire-damaged forests, though their competitive capacity has been significantly reduced. The pine sprouts germinating power and their growth on fire-damaged soil is being hampered because of its heavy infestation with perennial grasses. The results of studies demonstrated that the height of combustion deposit on tree trunks together with their diameters at the height of 1.3 m is an objective indicator of the post-fire stability of trees and forest stands. It is stressed that the basic way of forest regeneration should be the creation of forest plantations of Scotch pine.
