Abstract

While describing the technique of making a shot, the majority of specialists used to consider it as a monotonous process. Meanwhile the author has revealed the significant differences in the technique of making a shot among the various athletes that require different methods of preparation. The objective of the studies includes the systemization and classification of the process of making shots in biathlon. Tasks: to identify the existing ways of making shots in biathlon and to determine their specific distinctive features. Methods of studies: the pedagogical observations, theoretical methods of scientific observation. Pedagogical observations have been conducted with usage of “Scatt” marksmanship trainer during the training sessions of the national teams of Ukraine from 1994 to 2012 and the Republic of Belarus from 2002 to 2004. Results of the studies: three major means of shooting have been revealed “on hold”, on leading in while “catching” the target and on leading in at the expense of stopping the rifle. Conclusions: the classification of ways for making a shot in biathlon has been developed; the specific features peculiar for each technique of making a shot have been identified. Besides, it has been determined that the technique of shooting by means of “stopping the rifle by leading in” is the most preferable for biathlon conditions.
