Abstract

In the present work the estimation of primary production on a surface of Peter the Great Bay on the basis of V.V. Menshutkin’s advanced model is presented. For this purpose materials of all accessible oceanographic observations are used (seawater temperature, nitrates, phosphates and silicates), made on the water area of Peter the Great Bay from 1952 to 2009. The average long-term typical distributions of primary production are analyzed using three data sets: the «warm» years (1952, 1958, 1960, 1967, 1968, 1973, 1975, 1978, 1984, 1988, 1991, 2000, and 2006 to 2008), the «normal» years (1953, 1969–1972, 1976, 1977, 1981, 1982, 1985–1987, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003–2005), the «cold» years (1954, 1957, 1962, 1974, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2002, and 2009). Spatial distribution fi elds of primary production for each typical situation are presented by results of modelling.
