Abstract

“Non-manual relation” (the system of not officially declared forms of physical and mental violence, ensuring the dominant position of actors, which have high unregulated status in the group, over the younger ones) is not confined by the military organisation. Manifestations of the phenomenon are highlighted in various social organisations: orphanages, hospitals, hostels of educational institutions, organisations of different property forms, etc. The article describes the results of studies of “non-manual relation” in the organisations of secondary education sector in comparison with the manifestations of a similar phenomenon in the workforce. We have discovered that “non-manual relation” is a phenomenon that is characteristic of groups of different ages of people within them and of content of the joint activity. We have revealed higher intensity of the phenomenon in general in adult groups (penal colony and industrial plant workers) in comparison with youth groups (educational institutions). The results suggest that the age dependence of “non-manual relation” is less likely than dependence upon activity. Namely, for manifestation of mobbing (“non-manual relation” in labour organisations), there are more favourable conditions than for bullying (“non-manual relation” in study groups). There is also a dependence of “nonmanual relation” upon gender of the mates.
