The work studies the pedagogical determinants of efficiency of education and formation of a civic understanding of one''s role in life during the professional teaching of youth. The civic activity should be realized in the willingness of young students to participate in works, which are useful for the whole society. The authors of the paper discuss the pedagogical conditions, under which processes of training in an average vocational professional educational institution are successful in the aspect of manifestation of a civic position of pupils. The maturity of a student to act in the society and the idea of his usefulness qualitatively characterizes the formation of moral and ethical and social values of this personality. The work makes a focus on a hierarchical structure of value-related orientations. The process of education is seen as a complex of macrofactors, prolonged in ontogenetic aspect, among which an important role is given to the family and school.
