Abstract

The main purpose of breeding Orenburg goats is to obtain the greatest amount of high-grade down. The organization of full-value feeding is one of the most important factors of the impact of external environmental conditions on the animals’ manifestation of genetic potentials of their productivity. The new formulae of protein-vitamin-mineral supplements for the balancing of goat-wethers’ diets have been developed. The following available high-protein feeds – sunflower cake, wheat bran, peas, feed grade yeast were included into the new PVM supplements. To eliminate the deficit in macroelements table salt, sulfur and monobasiccalciumphosphates were added. The deficient microelements were introduced as sulfates in adequate proportions. The wether goats’ down yield was determined by the quantity and quality of down, obtained as result of combing twice repeated, the down grading was performed in accordance with GOST 2260 –78. The natural length of down hair was measured with the help of a ruler to the nearest 0.1 cm, the true hair length was determined in the laboratory on samples selected with a special fork from the same place. The mass portion of down was determined by its weighing and using calculation methods. The results of studies conducted showed that the PVM supplements inclusion into the diets of wether-goats had a positive impact on the quantity and quality of downy products.
