Abstract

This article presents the data on density and seasonal dynamics of number of raptors at the territory of the Taganrog Yuzhny Airport, which were collected from June 2010 to January 2011. During this period, a total of 17 species of birds of prey were observed, 447 individuals of 15 species were counted on the transects within the airfield. The breeding Common Kestrels (Falco tinnunculus) were observed at the airport territory, among the sites, in the niche of an old airplane. A clear seasonal dynamics was revealed both for the species composition and for the number of the birds of prey within the airfield. Along with the density of population of raptors, the most species diversity was observed during the seasonal migrations in September, while the lowest figures were observed in November.
