Abstract

The problem of teaching grammar of the Russian language, in particular negative constructions, to foreign students is considered. The relevance of the work lies in the importance of the study of the universal language category the category of negation for presentation to foreign audiences and in significance of applying a functional-grammatical approach to the teaching of Russian as a foreign language. The basic principles of the theory of functional grammar and its terminology tools, as well as structure of functional-semantic category of negation, which is a system of interacting micro-fields, each of which reflects a certain type of negative semantics, are described. In each micro-field the author identifies nuclear and peripheral zones, characterized by a definite set of negative constructions that express a particular type of semantics. It is indicated that the dominant feature (the core field) are the most monosemantic, regularly used and specialized for the expression of certain semantics constructions; the constructs with dominant signs of categorical semantics of other functional-semantic categories are located at the periphery. It is argued that the presentation of grammatical phenomena in the foreign audience carried out taking into account the basic principles of functional grammar contributes to profound understanding of the material by foreign students, to systematization of knowledge, to mastering the synonymic possibilities of the Russian language, which eventually defines the level of proficiency in the language generally.
