Abstract

In the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra registered is more than 5000 objects of cultural heritage (historical and cultural). 95 % of these objects are archaeological sites. Many sites have been identified in the 1970–1990 years. Due to geographical features of the area, most of the archaeological sites located in hard to reach places. Given the large-scale oil and gas development and the need for effective conservation of monuments in the district conducted the monitoring and setting boundaries of archaeological sites. In 2010–2012, the authors participated in the organization of the monitoring sites in the basin of the lower reaches of the Irtysh river. In the three years were surveyed more than 200 objects. Removed instrumental topographical plans, the restrictions across the facility with coordinating on the ground, held cultural and chronological attributes. For lack of regulatory acts defining order of the monitoring and requirements for summary reports salvage works were performed intuitively proceeding from personal experience of the specialists. However the obtained results allow us today, not only to take into account errors and omissions, to extract a positive experience, but, most importantly, to translate archaeological sites to a new level of accounting and security.
