Abstract

Social mobility in a society depends not only on the inner attitude of individuals, but also on the conditions of the vertical and horizontal mobility. Requirements and conditions of regional society in this context may be the same as the all-Russian mainstream, or have their own specific issues. This article reveals such significant for social mobility factors as hard work, education and relations. The author also analyzes the factors that do not contribute to social improvement, such as religion, gender, place of birth. The article identifies trends of the intergeneration mobility in the Rostov region; describes the types of human and social capital, promoting social mobility in the Rostov region. The author demonstrates that education today is the main channel for social mobility for residents of the region.
