Abstract

The article examines the basic principles and approach to the development of readers’ culture that are proposed in N.D. Tamarchenko’s literary and educational conception. The program of teaching literature developed under this outstanding literary theorist’s supervision is also considered. This program is the first attempt in the history of Russian education to build up a unified philological and pedagogic system of learning literature at school.
