Abstract

The article deals with the Spanish system of higher education that undergoes transformation and adaptation in the conditions of European convergence. The main aim of the convergence between national systems of education in the European Union, or in the European Higher Education Area, is the standardization of higher education among EU countries and their surroundings. It is achieved by introducing the European Credit Transfer System, curriculum harmonizing, European certificate issuing, as well as institutions’ cooperation encouraging and education quality estimating. The article analyzes the key elements of the new system development in the network of social education, defines the key aspects of this system and gives pros and cons of its introduction. The obtained results indicate that despite the great number of issues which are difficult to come to consensus in, we can see now positive changes in the system of higher education concerning, first of all, the curriculum adjustment with the personal professional interest of a student as well as the broadening of the process of institutions’ internalization.
