Abstract

The static strength and hardness were measured for a series of SiC ceramic samples with variable (from 1 to 20 %) porosity. It is shown that local stresses are different from average stress and are determined by configuration of pore ensemble. The factor of stress concentration is calculated depending on porosity. The local stresses in pore ensembles have been calculated by finite element method.
