Abstract

The article deals with the issues related to the importance of monitoring the development of internationalisation of higher education. The author provides definitions of internationalisation which reflect the current approaches to analysing this process. The development of internationalisation is determined by the context. A growing number of universities located in the countries participating in the Bologna process develop and implement their own internationalisation strategies. One of the key factors of efficient development of internationalisation is the assessment of the implementation of internationalisation strategies. The analysis of the existing practices in assessing internationalisation such as rankings, accreditation, certification and self-evaluation proofs that despite the differences in their methodologies their objective is to enhance the quality of internationalisation. The existence of a wide range of internationalisation assessment procedures carried out mainly in the European Union countries enables higher education institutions to implement the existing tools or develop new ones.
