At the contemporary stage of training not only students are expected to be involved into creative work, but teachers as well. The study showed a discrepancy between understanding of importance of involving students into independent, creative work demonstrated by a Russian language teacher and a real state of affairs. The level of teacher’ preparedness for developing the instructional content and techniques of problem-facing learning in Russian language’ lessons is rather low that requires raising potential of teacher’s creative work.
