Abstract

The results of control slaughter of ram lambs at the age of 4.6 months after weaning, obtained by using siring rams of the new intrabreed mutton type of Akzhaik dual-purpose sheep in commercial flocks, as compared with the progeny obtained from commercial Akzhaik dual-purpose sheep, are submitted. The findings obtained in the course of studies show that the siring rams of mutton type firmly inherit their mutton qualities to their offspring. When slaughtered at the age of 4.5 months, all the selected types of lambs produced carcasses weighing 12.41-13.32 kg, with their progeny being born predominantly from the rams of mutton type.
