Abstract

The phenomenon of religious revival in post-Soviet Russia, which united the multidirectional processes, appeared irregularly in different spheres of religious life of society and received ambiguous estimation of the researches is considered. The following peculiarities of the named processes are revealed: after the collapse of the Soviet State system, breakdown of the according system of the values is happening, the citizens of post-Soviet Russia go through crisis of civil identity. Traditional religions and first of all Russian Orthodox Church introduced to Russian people a complex of ideological, world outlook, symbolic constructors, which let to transform painlessly the previous elements of identity to new. Incorporation of definite ideas in state ideology, creation of “traditions”, their raising to the antiquity as a mean of their legitimation and consecration that is the technology of construction of new civil identity. The conclusion is that Russian people in post-Soviet period in mass order accepted religion as an important element of the civil, ethnic-cultural identity that was not followed by the significant changes in the sphere of individual religious identity, touching the level of the belief and religious practice. The results of research conducted by the Center for Religious Studies, Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin in Tambov and the Tambov region are used.
