Abstract

Das Buch bietet eine kompakte Einführung in die Soziologie; den einzelnen Kapiteln liegen drei große Themenkreise zugrunde: der erste befasst sich mit den methodischen Grundlagen, mit Problemstellungen soziologischer Theorien, der Entwicklung der empirischen Forschung und wissenschaftstheoretischen Grundlagen. Ein weiterer großer Abschnitt bezieht sich auf die Makro-Perspektive der Gesellschaftsentwicklung ¿ von evolutionstheoretischen Grundlagen über die verschiedenen Phasen (vorindustrielle Gesellschaften, Industrialisierung) bis zu den aktuellen Problemen (Bevölkerungsentwicklung, Ökologie) und den weltweiten Entwicklungsprozessen zwischen der ¿Ersten¿ und der ¿Dritten¿ Welt. Der dritte Themenkreis umfasst mikrosoziologische Perspektiven und klassische Forschungsgebiete: es werden die Grundlagen menschlichen Verhaltens ¿ Lernen, Sozialisation und Gruppeneinfluss ¿ behandelt und die Themenfelder soziale Ungleichheit, Familie, Arbeit und Delinquenz vorgestellt. Jedes Kapitel gibt einen Einblick in die Entwicklung und den aktuellen Diskussionsstand des jeweiligen Gebietes, und weist sowohl auf die klassische als auch aktuelle Literatur hin.
