Um Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), é um curso aberto oferecido por meio de ambientes virtuais de aprendizagem, ferramentas da Web 2.0 ou redes sociais que visa oferecer a um grande número de interessados a possibilidade de ampliar os seus conhecimentos num determinado tema. São parte integrante da mudança, revolucionando a formação, nas instituições de ensino e nas empresas. O nosso projeto apresenta um modelo de construção destes cursos, através de boas práticas, que possa ser adotado por entidades e a custos acessíveis, através de plataformas, tecnologias e desenvolvimento técnico. O projeto adota a plataforma e-Raízes.Redes (eRR) do Instituto Politécnico de Santarém como suporte ao desenvolvimento e a sua estrutura encontra-se exemplificada em três páginas distintas no eRR, todas elas parte do MOOC JAVA Project, “Curso de Iniciação JAVA”, “Curso Intermédio de JAVA” e o “Curso Avançado de JAVA”.
