The study of the individual competencies of a modern leader in the pharmaceutical sector of healthcare

Abstract

Aim. To study the individual competencies of a modern leader as the coordinator of the organizational system in the pharmaceutical sector of healthcare in the context of adaptive management of the organizational culture.Materials and methods. The following scientific methods were used: logical, analytical, economic and statistical, survey, selective observation, focus group, expert assessments.Results. The pharmaceutical sector (PhS) of healthcare is characterized by a high social and medical orientation, and requires effective management. At the epicenter of the emerging managerial relationships there is the leader as the coordinator of the organizational system, which he/she directs towards a certain goal – pharmaceutical provision of the population and healthcare institutions. Therefore, it is important to determine the individual competencies that the leaders of pharmaceutical institutions should meet taking into account the professional specificity in a particular institution. According to the results of the survey of respondents our studies have identified 10 competencies of the PhS modern leader. In addition, the directions for formation of each of the competencies selected (40 components of the directions) have been determined.Conclusions. It has been found that the competencies of a modern leader of a pharmaceutical institution studied and directions for their formation allow us to specify the programs for improving senior management of the pharmacy specialists, to envisage subjects for their education in the system of the postgraduate education, in particular self-education, internships, and the experience exchange. In a complex, this will increase the effectiveness of the overall organizational and management maintenance in the PhS, which is important for its further development.
