Mass online training of health care workers during COVID-19: approach, impact, and outcomes for over 10,000 health care providers

Abstract

La COVID-19 a révélé des lacunes majeures chez les travailleurs de la santé (TS) formés aux soins aigus et critiques dans le monde entier, en particulier dans les milieux à faibles ressources. Notre objectif était d'évaluer l'efficacité des cours en ligne de masse dans la préparation des travailleurs de la santé à la gestion des patients atteints de COVID-19 et de déterminer si l'apprentissage en ligne rapidement déployé peut améliorer leurs connaissances et leur confiance pendant une pandémie.

La COVID-19 reveló importantes deficiencias en los trabajadores de la salud (HCW) capacitados en atención aguda y crítica en todo el mundo, especialmente en entornos de bajos recursos. Nuestro objetivo era evaluar la eficacia de los cursos masivos en línea en la preparación de los trabajadores sanitarios para manejar a los pacientes con COVID-19 y determinar si el aprendizaje electrónico implementado rápidamente puede mejorar su conocimiento y confianza durante una pandemia.

كشف كوفيد-19 عن أوجه قصور كبيرة في العاملين في مجال الرعاية الصحية (HCWs) المدربين على الرعاية الحادة والحرجة في جميع أنحاء العالم، لا سيما في البيئات منخفضة الموارد. كنا نهدف إلى تقييم فعالية الدورات التدريبية الجماعية عبر الإنترنت في إعداد العاملين في مجال الرعاية الصحية لإدارة مرضى كوفيد-19 وتحديد ما إذا كان التعلم الإلكتروني الذي يتم نشره بسرعة يمكن أن يعزز معرفتهم وثقتهم أثناء الجائحة.

COVID-19 revealed major shortfalls in healthcare workers (HCWs) trained in acute and critical care worldwide, especially in low-resource settings. We aimed to assess mass online courses' efficacy in preparing HCWs to manage COVID-19 patients and to determine whether rapidly deployed e-learning can enhance their knowledge and confidence during a pandemic.
