The article discusses travel programs on Russian television. The principles of their differentiation are proposed: locations, target settings, subject-object relations, ways of connection with the audience. It is concluded that it is necessary to decipher the «cultural codes» of the regions. A travel TV program should be considered not only as an opportunity to show the life of the other people, not only as a platform for entertainment, but also as a way to understand ourselves.
