Desarrollo de un curso de biología contextualizado en el bachillerato : el caso del proyecto salters-nuffield advanced biology

Abstract

Salters-Nuffield Advanced Biology (SNAB, «Biología Avanzada Salters-Nuffi eld») es un nuevo curso de biología de nivel avanzado para estudiantes de 16-19 años de edad, correspondiente al nivel inglés «advanced level». Fue lanzado en Inglaterra y Gales en septiembre de 2005; desde septiembre de 2002 se han ensayado pruebas piloto en las que han participado alrededor de cuatro mil estudiantes. Este trabajo discute las razones para desarrollar actualmente un nuevo curso de biología avanzada, la filosofía del proyecto y cómo se escribieron los materiales y se diseñaron las orientaciones didácticas. Se presta particular atención a las implicaciones didácticas del desarrollo del curso y a la participación del profesorado en el proyecto. El objetivo del proyecto es diseñar un curso actualizado que entusiasme a los estudiantes, que el profesorado y otros profesionales de la biología encuentren apropiado y que aproveche al máximo los desarrollos actuales en la biología y en la didáctica.
