Abstract

The article examines the professional community as a dynamic object based on the regional professional PR community, "Far Eastern School of PR" (Dalnevostochnaya shkola PR). The study explores the factors of camaraderie and mechanisms for maintaining the social density between the members of one professional group along with identifying the potential reasons for disintegration. The empirical basis of the study was a series of in-depth interviews conducted with members of the Far Eastern School of PR as well as the results obtained via the observation method. The development of the regional PR community is connected, firstly, with the involvement of the team of initiators and organizers of the creation of the community and the accumulated network and intellectual capital; secondly, with the readiness of the professional group to unite; thirdly, with the pressure of external factors that at the time of the creation of the community formed significant reputational threats both for the profession of "Public Relations Specialist" and for the entire PR industry. The formation and maintenance of camaraderie took place due to the awareness of the of the common importance of joint activities and the unity of value orientations by the members of the community and through the systematic use of symbolic mechanisms and mechanisms of gift exchange: connections, contacts, expertise, etc.
