The authors discuss several interpolation problems, i.e. given some matrices, and some complex points, find a complex, matrix-valued function which has the prescribed values at the given points. The interpolation problems are the Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem for the Nevanlinna class and for the Stieltjes class, the truncated power moment problem on the real axis, and the Stieltjes matrix power problem. One of the aims of this paper is to establish the relation between the solution for the interpolation problems and the moment problems. The authors solve this by using the block Hankel vector approach.

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 18 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 10% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% |
