El italiano en el paisaje lingüístico de Buenos Aires como campo de disputa de la representación y auto-representación de la italianidad en Argentina

Abstract

El presente estudio analiza el paisaje lingüístico (PL) de Buenos Aires como escenario en el que se refleja la representación y auto-representación de la italianidad argentina a través de los numerosos usos lingüísticos plasmados en los signos gráficos y textuales que se encuentran distribuidos a lo largo del espacio urbano. Para tal fin se ha recogido un corpus de 500 “visualidades” (Arfuch 2009) representadas en todo tipo de superficie visible en el espacio público de la ciudad de Buenos Aires y del conurbano bonaerense, como marquesinas, vidrieras, carteles, folletos, menús, indumentaria, productos, objetos, etc. Dicho material ha sido clasificado por zonas, por rasgos temáticos (toponomástica, nombres y apellidos, nombres geográficos, utensilios de cocina, productos alimenticios, mafia, miscelánea, etc.), por características lingüísticas, por tipología de enunciante, para poder analizarlo como género discursivo, es decir, según rasgos temáticos, retóricos y enunciativos (Steimberg 1993, Bajtín 1982). Por otro lado, se han suministrado 9 entrevistas semiestructuradas, en profundidad, de aproximadamente una hora de duración, con el fin de contrastar las diferentes representaciones de la italianidad y el vínculo de los sujetos entrevistados con dicho concepto. El análisis de los signos lingüísticos y de las entrevistas ha permitido entender que el PL es un género discursivo y a la vez un terreno de disputa del concepto de italianidad y de los símbolos con esta conectados.
