Abstract

Qui s’occupe des nourrissons au sein des couples hétéroparentaux cohabitants ? En s’appuyant sur l’enquête statistique Elfe, l’article montre que l’investissement masculin, limité et ciblé, est marqué par le pouvoir d’échapper aux soins non appréciés. Les femmes n’ont pas ces marges de manœuvre et cumulent les charges : celles qui allaitent au sein, ou assurent seules le ménage, ou ont plusieurs enfants, se chargent d’autant plus des soins au nourrisson. L’article montre aussi que les femmes les plus diplômées sont un peu moins nombreuses à réaliser seules le travail de puériculture, mais que les cumuls de charges (allaitement, présence d’enfants aîné·es, tâches ménagères) et les situations contraintes sont tout aussi forts pour elles que pour les femmes peu diplômées. La division du travail, les cumuls de charges et les pouvoirs d’évitement font système ; ils structurent et sont structurés par des inégalités de genre massives, généralisées mais socialement situées.
