The genre of crypto-history as a step towards a neo-modernist novel (based on the works of Vasily Kozhelyanka "Ethiopian Sech" and "False Nostradamus")

Abstract

The article is devoted to genre and style features of two crypto-historical novels by V. Kozhelianko "Ethiopian Sich" and "False Nostradamus". The purpose of the article is to define the originality and path of the neo-modernist novel in Ukraine and its comparative Relations with a foreign novel of this genre. The structure of the novel "Ethiopian Sech" has a classic three-part composition: a prologue, twelve sections and an epilogue. According to the geography of events, the novel can be divided into three parts: the first occurs in Zaporizhzhya Sich, where the young Volyn nobleman went in search of easy profit. At this time, the first point of divergence occurs, after the second point of divergence - the events in Ethiopia - Peter Pavel Lazarenko turns the personal story of life into a ramification of the history of states, and the third point of divergence does not occur in the novel: the writer left the process of repentance and catharsis for guessing the readership.
