Entre biomas e embriões

Abstract

Este artigo tem como ponto de partida a composição imagética do baldaquino da “vida” na Basílica Nacional de Nossa Senhora Aparecida (Aparecida, SP). Recorrendo metodologicamente à sobreposição entre religião e mídia, considero aquele templo um lugar privilegiado para a investigação antropológica sobre o catolicismo institucionalizado. Assim, para analisar as formas pelas quais a “vida” é imaginada religiosamente, viso explorar as redes de engajamento que constroem e dão as múltiplas formas da “vida” no catolicismo brasileiro. Nessa direção, faço uma seleção de algumas das formas pelas quais essa “vida” é materializada religiosamente em outros contextos brasileiros nos quais biomas e embriões também se tornam protagonistas imagéticos: os ativismos socioambientais e os ativismos antiaborto. Longe de almejar definir cosmologicamente a “vida” enquanto uma categoria católica metafísica, tenho o intuito de mapear as disputas que certas imagens são capazes de mediar no ativismo católico contemporâneo – seja pela sua sacralidade, seja pela sua politização.
