
The article is devoted to the general survey of Gaza topography in Early Byzantine period. In the research is considered to the main authors, on the whole, written tradition of Gaza. The author is identified to the several groups of extant works. There are Christian theological texts, natural scientific treatises, rhetorical matters, philosophical speeches and poem in the classical tradition. The authors were connected with the school of rhetoricians in Gaza and monasteries around this city. Finally, Gaza was an important center of intellectual life in Early Byzantine East.
