Abstract

A obra de Plotino. no século III d.C.. reúne notáveis influências do médio-platonismo e do neo-pitagorismo, a propósito do problema do belo. Ele retoma a tese: “sê como Deus” e também a crítica do materialismo, da escola medio-platonica que floresceu em Alexandria. Retoma a identidade entre beleza e medida, harmonia matemática, proposta pelo neopitagorismo bem como a afirmação: a finalidade do homem é a separação do sensível e a união com o divino. Sob a influência de Amonio Saccas. Plotino elaborou uma filosofia que busca a liberação do homem, a união com a divindade e a contemplação. Expôs uma concepção original da absoluta transcendência do Bem e do Um, fundamento de toda beleza; uma concepção original da natureza da alma, à qual compete ordenar o mundo sensível; e mostrou que a contemplação e o amor são vias de acesso ao Bem e ao Belo.
