This first article situates cultures in the globalization process. The author raises the issue of whether economic, social and cultural exchanges and changes will lead to a rethinking of models of social integration. He feels that we are not dealing with a simple standardization that replaces the world’s diverse cultures but rather with a process that reveals to what extent the world is made up of coherent diversities that at present must deal with a new coherence.
