Abstract

En el momento cultural actual en el que cobra fuerza todo lo relacionado con la vida, el pensamiento teológico de Ireneo ha llegado a ocupar el puesto que se merece, como muestra la proliferación del uso de la afortunada expresión: La gloria de Dios es la vida del hombre. En el presente artículo se pretende aclarar qué se esconde bajo el término ζωή en el pensamiento de Ireneo. Para ello se utiliza el concepto de principio vital como herramienta que permite profundizar en los sentidos de ζωή y sacar conclusiones para el uso de la teología de Ireneo en cuestiones teológicas actuales. Así las cosas, se profundiza en el significado de los términos antropológicos alma, soplo, espíritu en las exégesis que Ireneo hace de los textos bíblicos que los gnósticos leían de modo heterodoxo.
