La conquista romana de la Hispania Citerior

Abstract

La conquista romana de la Península Ibérica, y concretamente el territorio que se convertirá en la provincia de la Hispania Citerior ha cobrado especial un interés destacado en los últimos años. A partir de las intervenciones arqueológicas se ha completado un vacío en el conocimiento de la actividad militar de los siglos II-I a.C.sólo conocido básicamente a partir de las fuentes antiguas. Gracias al trabajo continuado de distintos equipos de investigación, hoy en día disponemos de un panorama completamente diferente. En estas nuevas investigaciones delprimer siglo de la conquista romana de la Península, el siglo II a.C., que hasta hace unas décadas era un período completamente desconocido, se erige como un periodo crucial para proponer nuevas hipótesis sobre el modelo romano de conquista de este territorio del norte peninsular. Este modelo de conquista seguramente fue aplicado, con algunos matices, en los otros territorios que compondrán el futuro Imperio Romano.
