When sexual maturation provokes a decrease in profitability, the applying of methods, that delay or definitely inhibit gametogenesis, may constitute an interesting solution : — Production of late maturing animals may be attempted from technics that modify environmental factors (artificial photoperiod) or genetical structure (selection). — Three methods leading to sterility are studied for the moment : in some cases interspecific hybrids are sterile but their commercial performances must be proved satisfying ; the destroying of germinal cells by ionizing radiations or the induced polyploidy could be efficient in more general situations.
