TEFSİR TABAKÂT ESERLERİ

Abstract

One of the most remarkable sources needed most by an exegesis researcher in his studies is the works that examine the lives and works of the exegesis scholars and present information by referring to their works. For, thanks to such Works, an exegesis researcher can mostly find related sources and continue his studies. Therefore, this study examined a few Tabakat-type works that present biographies of exegesis scholars and introduce their works. In the present study, we first examined Tabakâtü’l-müfessirin, a work which is associated with three different authors – Suyûtî, ad-Dâvûdî and al-Edirnevî. We also studied Neylü’s-sâirîn fî tabakâti’l-müfessirin by Muhammed Tâhir el-Fencafîrî and Mu‘cemü'l-müfessirin by Âdil Nüveyhiz. Before examining these works, we presented a brief introduction to the meanings of the Tabakat and Exegesis Scholar and to the kinds of works published about them. In addition, we also provided brief biographical information on the authors of these works. In the study, we presented valuable information on publishing techniques of afore-mentioned books and on how they examined exegesis scholars. We aslo aimed to point out the differences between these works.
