Lectura Fácil: validador de texto

Abstract

The concept of “easy-to-read” come up in Sweden (in the late 1960s) as social necessity, appealing to democratic and accessibility issues. The main reason is that everyone should be able to have access to culture, literature and information in a comprehensible way. Easy-to-read is defined as that which makes it possible to read and understand a text easily. The main idea is that it is not enough for a text to be understandable, but it must also have a structure and vocabulary that support the understanding of the content. [1] Regarding the use of this methodology, there are groups that benefit from it, such as people with intellectual disabilities or lack of language skills, among others. To give context to the work, it is part of a framework of work that deals with the automation of the process of identifying a set of rules for a text to be considered easy to read. More recently, the aim has been to not only identify the problems, but also to transform them, providing possible solutions so that the guidelines are finally complied with. Throughout this work, four guidelines will be implemented that can be considered for inclusion in the system and will be complementary to the existing ones. They will be implemented in two processes: problem identification and text adaptation. Finally, this implementation will be done through the development of a RESTful API, where each guideline will represent a resource. In addition, a very simple web page has been developed to visualise the results.
