By addressing the growing need for a highly skilled workforce, the project focuses on the development of the so-called twin skills (green and digital skills) of the future seafarers by introducing augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) methodologies, and smart maritime solutions into Higher Education and professional training. Through the development of a Twin-Transition-related MSc Programme, Twin-Med seeks to bridge the gap on digitalization and sustainable practices within maritime education to reflect current and future trends of the industry, as a result of the EU Green Deal and Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027. Α κey component of the project is the development of a new MSc Curriculum as per the latest technological developments and EU standards, supported by a Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) and AR/VR equipment and software that will provide to the South Mediterranean MSc students hands-on training. Additionally, the project facilitates study visits and Train-the-Trainers' Workshops at national level for HEI staff from the 6 South Mediterranean HEIs that participate in the project, promoting capacity-building, pedagogical and methodological developments. On the final year of project implementation, 3 flows of Virtual Exchanges will offer the opportunity to the selected students to benefit from a transnational training experience while the final MSc will be submitted for accreditation in the national competent authorities of the SM partner countries. The project is addressed maritime HEIs students, academic and non-academic staff and the maritime industry, exhibiting innovation and establishing channels of collaboration for more future-oriented continuous development courses.
