The Idealist2027 vision is to supply the National Contact Points (NCPs) responsible for digital destinations in Horizon Europe with the tools, knowledge and expertise they need to better serve the digital research community applying for funding from Horizon Europe. Through transnational collaboration, synergies with other digital programs and other cluster 4 NCPs networks, and special network activities Idealist2027 will enhance NCP capacities to facilitate stronger, more impactful European projects. The project focuses on four key objectives: 1.Bringing NCPs to a common understanding of the EU digital landscape, future digital trends, policies, and funding opportunities. 2.Lowering barriers for newcomers, particularly SMEs and widening countries, ensuring broader engagement in digital initiatives and creating better impact on the digital landscape. 3.Connecting digital communities to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among stakeholders. 4.Integrating the components of Cluster 4 to benefit NCPs, applicants, and stakeholders through synergies across Digital, Industry, and Space. Idealist2027 introduces new services, such as the Horizon Intelligence task, which will analyze Evaluation Summary Reports (ESRs) to provide data-driven insights to NCPs, enabling them to better guide proposers, and will continue to offer very successful services such as Idea check and proposal check. By building on the experience of previous Ideal-ist projects and fostering cooperation within Cluster 4, Idealist2027 will create a more cohesive and supportive environment for NCPs and their stakeholders. The project will ensure compliance with the FAIR principles for data management and will collaborate closely with other Cluster 4 NCP projects. Idealist2027 aims to strengthen the European digital research community, paving the way for successful participation in Horizon Europe and the next Framework Programme.

The EOSC Data Commons project’s mission is to contribute to tThe EOSC Data Commons project’s mission is to contribute to the establishment of EOSC as the European Research Commons, a global trusted ecosystem that provides seamless access to high-quality interoperable research outputs and services that enable European researchers to collaborate more easily, be more productive and achieve higher levels of excellence. The project achieves this with innovative EOSC Exchange services for improving and accelerating data lifecycle management supporting discovery, analysis, deposition, preservation, sharing, use and reuse of research data in a European data and compute continuum that builds on the capabilities of the EOSC EU Node, national and European infrastructures for data-intensive research and a community of federated repositories from national, institutional and thematic initiatives. The project will deliver: (1) a AI-based Analytics-Oriented Metadata Warehouse and Discovery Service; (2) a federation of data repositories from different providers enriched by scientific applications and data analytics tools; (3) a Catalogue of data analytics tools (4) an Execution Service for tool deployment and execution; (5) metadata specifications for the reproducible and interoperable execution of analytic tools; (6) a FAIRness assessment and reproducibility toolset and related policies. Innovation is led by multidisciplinary and thematic use cases from Social Sciences and Humanities, Physics, Life Sciences, Biology, Heath and Medicine, and Environmental Science. The project’s pan-European consortium involves open source technology providers, major national and thematic data repositories, and user communities contributing to co-design, testing and validation with their use cases. By working with 12 national and institutional data repositories, the project has the ambition of delivering new solutions that will support the integration of Nodes in the future EOSC Federation.

The Ideal-ist project will give all NCPs with responsibility for the digital destinations in Horizon Europe Cluster 4 (3, 4 and 6) access to the knowledge, tools, and experiences they need to ensure top quality services to their clients. In turn, these services can result in inventive, catalytic European projects. Over 30 NCP teams will pursue this ideal working together and operating across national boundaries, resulting in stronger services exceeding the capacity of a single organisation in a purely national context. Ideal-ist has clear objectives to meet this goal: O1: Access to a rich knowledge base on the digital landscape of opportunities. O2: Offerings that improve and expand their working tools and services. O3: Interaction among proposers, NCPs, the Commission and strategic partnerships on a personal level that enhances expertise and participation. The objectives translate to four sets of activities: 1. Manage, share and maintain Ideal-ist's knowledge base during and beyond the adjustment to Horizon Europe, according to the FAIR principles and in cooperation with Bridge2HorizonEurope. 2. Strengthen the sense of community and teamwork among digital NCPs and other Cluster 4 NCPs. 3. Offer services specifically designed for digital NCPs and try their application in the other areas of Cluster 4 4. Offer proposer-oriented services, focusing on the digital parts of Cluster 4, and try their application in the other areas of Cluster 4. Activities will be monitored using an agile methodology via an Activity Execution Dashboard (AED), allowing the project to deliver activities and tasks, identify deviations and propose corrective actions, measure progress towards success and quantify impact to achieve the high-level objectives. Ideal-ist will enrich the designated activities of NCPs with transnational activities going beyond national mandates, contributing to enhanced natural cooperation, leveraging the services and creating economies of scale.
