Geodynamics and Paleoceanography of continental margins and basins: northern Antarctic Peninsula. (SCAN´ 97). Objectives of the SCAN 97 campaign: 1) Complete the study of the Powell Basin. 2) In the northwestern Wedell Sea, the mechanisms of continental fragmentation and backarc basin development models have been studied. The structure, seismic stratigraphy and evolution have been investigated, with the objective of studying the Cenozoic subduction along the Jane backarc and Jane arc. 3) The border between the Antarctic / Scotia plates has been studied in order to establish the current and Cenozoic dynamics between this larger plate limit in the South Atlantic
