
This repository contains the CNN model files linked to "Contrasted trends in phytoplankton diversity, size structure and carbon burial efficiency in the Mediterranean Sea under shifting environmental conditions". It includes an object detection model (Faster R-CNN) trained to detect all microfossil instances on brightfield microscope images. It also includes a classification model (ResNet50) for the automatic labeling of the individual fossil images. Model outputs for the classification model were generated using ParticleTrieur (Marchant et al., 2020: https://doi.org/10.5194/jm-39-183-2020).
