Global cOpepoD functionaL diversitY (GODLY)

Abstract

This present repository contains R scripts developed during my postdoc at ETH Zürich, D-USYS, IBP, UP group. These R scripts were developed to produce the results of our study investigating the global contemporary and future patterns of marine copepod functional diversity, and how it relates to the functioning of the biological carbon pump (Benedetti et al., 2025, accepted in Global Change Biology). Scripts labelled as 'RSCRIPTBATCH' are those that were run on a local cluster to perform those functions defined within the script in parallel using the 'parallel' R package (R Core Team, 2020) with mclapply(). Scripts that were given a number correspond to those where I formatted and mined the main datasets of the study. They usually contain organized sequences of code where data are being read, examined, reformatted, analyzed and plotted. The number given to a script mainly corresponds to a temporal marker, and not necessarily a direct sequence from one numbered script to another. The end of the scripts' names usually indicate their main purposes. A more detailed list of the script's goals and content is usually given as comments at the beginning of the script. The 'table_mean_ann_FD_indices_baseline+BCP+biom_22.11.23' Rdata file contains the data necessary to reproduce the Figures 1 to 4 of the study (mean annual fields of zooplankton FD and the proxy variables of ecosystem functioning) The repository can also be found at: https://github.com/benfabio/Global-cOpepoD-functionaL-diversitY This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under grant agreement no. 862923 (AtlantECO) and under grant agreement no. 101059915 (BIOceans5D). This output reflects only the author’s view, and the European Union cannot be held responsible for any use that may be made of the information contained therein.
