
This application allows to select and rename files on a local drive according to settings specified within the application. 1. Tab Rename 3.1 Section SettingsDirectory: Selection of a directory holding the files to be renamed.Extension: Allows selection of a list of files based on their file extensions. Multiple selection is possible.Prepend prefix: The specified text will be appended before the original file name.Append suffix: The specified text will be appended to the original file name (but before the file extension).Force lower case: The new file name will be forced to exclusively use lower case. Replace pattern: This allows definition of a string that is to be replaced with a new pattern. If the string is to be deleted from the file name, the second text input field needs to be left empty. 3.2 Section File selectionIn the left column a list with oroginal file names will be displayed, possibly restricted to those with the selected file extensions. Files can be selected or deselected for renaming by using a mouse click. The right column will display the corresponding list of new file names. 3.3 Button RenameClicking the button will execute the file rename process to generate files with new file names as listed in Section 3.2. Prior to commencing the file renaming, all new file names will be checked for presence of special characters that should not be used in file names. If any such characters are found, a warning message will be displayed which offers the user the possibility to cancel or proceed with the file renaming. 4. Tab LogShows a log of the renaming process.
