Mitos del amor romántico y sexismo ambivalente en adolescentes

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar la prevalencia del sexismo y de los mitos del amor romántico entre los adolescentes, así como la relación entre ambas variables y su estabilidad en función de la edad. 900 adolescentes de centros públicos, de los que el 53.4 % eran chicas entre 13 y 17 años, con una media de 15.2, cumplimentaron el Inventario de Sexismo Ambivalente y la Escala de Mitos hacia el Amor. Los principales resultados señalaron que las puntuaciones difieren entre chicos y chicas, especialmente en el caso del sexismo, variable en la que las puntuaciones de los chicos fueron muy superiores a la de las chicas. En relación con los mitos del amor romántico, las chicas puntuaron más alto en los mitos relacionados con la idealización del amor, y los chicos en los que vinculan amor y maltrato. Se encontraron diferencias de género en la relación que mantienen ambas variables entre sí, y con la edad, aunque la prevalencia no varía mucho con el paso del tiempo. Se concluyó que factores como el consumo de pornografía, la proliferación de ideas negacionistas de la violencia de género y la ausencia de una educación afectivosexual adecuada, podrían estar detrás de estos resultados. Parece necesario implementar acciones, desde todos los ámbitos, para lograr que los y las adolescentes interioricen valores igualitarios.
