The determination of emergent or environmental risk of an area with great potential for biodiversity is essential to assess how physical characteristics and anthropogenic interference can influence the state of equilibrium of the system. This research aimed to identify the factors that are directly linked to the loss of biodiversity and to estimate the level of environmental risk of the Serra do Pingano in the province of Uíge. The research presents a model for determining environmental risk classes based on the overlapping of natural and man-made variables, combining the method of analyzing the hierarchy of data weights, following the order of integration into a Geographic Information System environment, this with the purpose of contributing to the management of land use. The results obtained during the research will point out that 52.6% of the area of the Serra do Pingano is of an environmental risk class considered to be very high. In these areas, there is a strong relationship between the levels of degradation and the geomorphological characteristics, the anthropic actions are directly linked with the loss of biodiversity. The environmental risk map prepared based on the variables of environmental susceptibility and threat, aimed to subsidize actions for planning and proposing public policies aimed at environmental management, and to serve as an experience that can be replicated in other areas and dimensions.
