Abstract

O Jardim Botânico da UFRRJ (JB/UFRRJ) contribui para a conservação da biodiversidade da flora, com destaque para espécies da Mata Atlântica. Entretanto, suas árvores estão infestadas por térmitas. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi identificar as espécies de térmitas associadas às espécies arbóreas do JB/UFRRJ, Seropédica, RJ. Para isso, todas as árvores do JB/UFRRJ foram inspecionadas. Os térmitas encontrados forrageando nas cascas ou entrecascas das árvores foram coletados e preservados em álcool 70% para posterior identificação, e o material vegetal também coletado para identificação específica. Do total de 226 árvores inspecionadas, 24% (n=54) apresentaram ocorrência, onde ambas as espécies foram identificadas pertencentes à família Termitidae, sendo elas: \textit{Microcerotermes strunckii} Sörensen e \textit{Nasutitermes sp.} A espécie, com ocorrência nas árvores, mais frequente foi \textit{M. strunckii} (x2 =12,5; g.l.=1; p<0,01), em 63% das árvores, e \textit{Nasutitermes sp.} ocorrendo em 37%. \textit{Mangifera indica} (37%) foi a espécie arbórea com maior ocorrência por térmitas (x2=5,47; g.l.=4; p<0,01). Dentre as cinco espécies arbóreas com maior ocorrência por \textit{M. strunckii} (n=35), destacou-se também a exótica \textit{M. indica} com 37%, seguido de \textit{Syzygium cumini} (7,4%), \textit{Roystonea oleracea} (5,5%), \textit{Inga laurina} (3,7%) e \textit{Lecythis pisonis} (3,7%) (x2 =49,9; g.l.=4; p<0,001). As cinco espécies de árvores com maior ocorrência pelo \textit{Nasutitermes sp.} (n=19) foram: \textit{Paubrasilia echinata} (6%), \textit{Sabal palmetto} (4%), \textit{Gallesia integrifolia} (4%), \textit{S. cumini} (2%) e \textit{Citrus reticalate} (2%) (x2 =1,2; g.l.=4; n.s.). Portanto, as árvores do JB/UFRRJ são infestadas por térmitas arborícolas nativos do Brasil, com predominância de infestação por \textit{M. strunckii} em espécie arbórea exótica.
